Mô tả sản phẩm
The English word for giraffe is simply "giraffe". This long-necked, spotted mammal is easily recognizable and its name is the same in many languages.
Giraffes are the tallest mammals on Earth, reaching heights of up to 19 feet (5.8 meters). Their incredibly long necks are a defining feature, allowing them to reach high into trees to browse leaves. This long neck is supported by seven vertebrae, the same number as humans, but each vertebra is significantly longer.
Giraffes are known for their distinctive coat patterns. Each giraffe has a unique pattern of brown or reddish-brown patches separated by lighter-colored lines. No two giraffes have the same spot pattern, making them easily identifiable individuals.
Giraffes are herbivores and primarily browse on acacia leaves, but also consume other leaves, buds, and fruits. They inhabit savannas and grasslands across sub-Saharan Africa.
Giraffes are generally social animals, often forming loose groups of females and young. Adult males tend to be more solitary, except during mating season.
Giraffes communicate in various ways, including infrasonic vocalizations (low-frequency sounds inaudible to humans), body language, and visual cues. Their long necks allow for a wide range of visual communication.
While giraffe populations are currently considered vulnerable, they are facing threats from habitat loss, poaching, and civil unrest. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these magnificent animals and their habitats.
